Bill Pritchard is a bass player with a wide range of musical experiences.  He began teaching and freelancing in Atlanta in 2001 while he was a tuba player in the Army Ground Forces Band.  

As bassist with the 7 piece Chamber Rock Group, Clibber Jones Ensemble, he recorded 2 albums “3+3” and “I am the Avalanche”.  He is the bassist and tuba player for the jazz trio Three Way Mirror and played on their album “New Normal“.  He also plays sousaphone with The 4th Ward Afro- Klezmer Orchestra and Mercury Orkestar on their album “Almost Famous (No Awards Yet)’. 

Bill is the bass player for Trombone Jesus and the Disciples, who have been seen at various venues around Atlanta and has been the bass player for the yearly Motown Review and A Christmas Tradition at the Strand Theatre since 2015. He was the bass player for Sunday services at First Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia from 2002- 2020 and has been a regular substitute bassist with the jazz combo at the Little Alley Steak House in Buckhead. 

He has a project of avant-garde free improvisations with amplified tuba with effects and loops called Amplituba. He has played as Amplituba at regional and international brass festivals, rock clubs and released a self titled album “Amplituba”. 

Collaboration is another feature of his work. Over his career he has collaborated with a number of Atlanta composers to include, but not limited to, Olivia Kieffer, Tim Crump, Majid Araim and Jeff Crompton. 

In addition to his performance schedule, Mr. Pritchard is a dedicated teacher of his craft, giving private lessons and master classes on bass, tuba, euphonium, trombone and stage fright and he is the Low Brass professor at Georgia College. 

Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music management from William Paterson University and a Master of Arts in classical performance on tuba from the Eastman School of Music and is currently pursuing a jazz bass degree at Kennesaw University.
